Rescued Children in India

Bill Legere, March 13, 2013

While in India during a recent visit we were made aware of situation that one of our partners were struggling to address.  There were reports of an "orphanage" that was being run very poorly and obtaining support that was not being directed toward the children.  There were also concerns about abuse and neglect.  The overall "feel" for this situation was that the children might have been trafficked into the orphanage to manipulate sympathetic support from American donors believing that they were impacting the lives of orphans.  It seems that nothing could be further from the truth. We had been prepared to be part of the rescue process but the timing was not right.

We post this update not as a reflection of our own work but to highlight the incredible work of our friend Eliza and the organization that she works for.  We will support the recovery process for the children and assist in any way that we can but the truth is that this is an example of how children are exploited.    It is also a testimony to those who struggle to make right was was wrong...
